Nokia, Ericsson and broadcasters to discuss future for radio in the mobiles!
What about radio in the mobile? Who will decide on the role of radio in the mobiles of the future? What business models work for radio? How can a global market for radio in mobile phones be created?

Mark Jefford-Baker, Business Development Manager at Ericsson Multimedia, will present some new technical developments and give a perspective on future consumer behavior. It will be followed by a discussion on how to create a global market for radio and radio applications in mobiles hosted by Martin Orrell (TPP, UK). Eugenio La Teana (RTL, Italy), Temu Tarnanen (Nokia Radio Business, Finland), Leif-Kjartan Bjørsvik (NRK, Norway) and Mikko Linnamäki (Liquid Air Lab, Germany ) will participate in the panel.

It’s a tough market – find a way through the problems
Radiodays Europe has united some of the most interesting people to address the challenges of sales in the commercial market.

− The European radio industry guru Tony Hertz will add new energy to sales by telling the seven secrets of creative radio. Dr. Martin Scarabis from Germany will address brain, brands and sales. Mark Barber (RAB, UK) and Jason Brownlee will present new knowledge on how radio advertising boosts brand browsing online. David Barker (NRS, UK) will show how to double your annual local advertising revenue in one week. A really strong program addressing some of the challenges commercial radio is facing right now, says Rolf Brandrud, Project Manager Radiodays Europe.

What is the future platform for radio?
Some consider that radio is dead. Nothing could be more wrong. But the European radio industry needs to find common grounds on how to digitize radio. Otherwise, Europe will be divided into analogue islands and digital ghettos. Marko Ala-Fossi from Finland has just released a book on this and he will share his views.

− Will there be a digital roadmap for Europe? World DMB Forum chairman Jørn Jensen will join Tim Davie (Director, BBC Music & Audio), Dan D`Aversa (RTL Group) and Erwin Linnenbach (Regiocast, Germany) in a discussion about the topic, explains Brandrud.

− Another big topic will be radio in cars. Will radio be in the future cars and how? The German trend researcher Sven Tollmien (Trendone) will give a visionary perspective on the prospects for in-car-entertainment. BMW’s manager for personal Entertainment, Dr. Michael Weber, will give the car manufacturer’s perspective and Marcus Heitmann from Deutsche Telekom will speak about in-car-services from the viewpoint of the telecom industry. Moreover, Rainer Biehn from Bayerische Medien Technik will have a look at how different technologies can be combined and produce remarkable results for radio as a medium as well as for media users, says Brandrud.
